NEWS
Holy Trinity Cheerleading Program Growing (Published
September 6, 2009)
Holy Trinity is kicking off a new cheerleading program
for the 2009-2010 school year that includes all girls
in 1st through 8th grades, offering a brand new Pep
Squad, a Junior Varsity, and a Varsity group. So girls
of all ages are gearing up for another year of shouting
out their Tiger pride at this year's basketball games.
Coordinated by moderators Sue Leininger, a teacher at
Holy Trinity, and Lisa Martin, a parent volunteer, the
girls will be coached by Laura and Katie Christoff,
cheerleaders from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High
School. Pep Squad is offered for girls in 1st - 3rd
grades, Junior Varsity is offered for girls 4th and
5th grades, and the Varsity squad includes girls in
6th - 8th grades. Practices are beginning right away
in September and will run every other week through December,
switching to weekly practices through mid-March.
Girls in the lower grades who would like to try their
hand at both cheerleading and basketball are able to
do so with this new program. The Pep Squad will only
be cheering at the Boys games, so cheerleading will
not interfere with the Girls basketball practices -
now that's something to cheer about!
